To better answer this question, it’s important to point out how Gold Fever is distinct from the typical GameFi development. Rather than being a single mini-game, it’s an entire world. This means it has an internal financial market, consumption of goods, labor, etc.

This means $NGL is the main in-game currency for not only purchasing items from the network (primary issuance), but also between players. That too for both purchase of goods and services. This makes the $NGL token the liquidity medium for the game’s economy, similar to how a network token like MATIC or AVAX acts on their blockchains.

$NGL can be borrowed with in-game DeFi, it is used to pay NPCs or players for their service and time, to buy primary issuances within the metaverse, and to be the value peg for every in-game function and item.

The decision to create separate tokens is twofold. Firstly, by having a non-crypto currency (JUL), Gold Fever can comply with the requirements of credit card processors and of game distribution platforms like Steam (too bad they changed their mind), Epic Games store or other platforms.

Another advantage of having a non-crypto currency is the potential to broaden the player base. Because not all gamers are accustomed to cryptocurrencies, the JUL token can act as a simple and intuitive bridge for those players. Below are the different currencies used within the Gold Fever universe:

JUL - a virtual internal unit of account like the currency earned in most games. Players will be able to buy JUL with the local currency (USD, Euro) using bank cards, PayPal, other traditional wallets (Skrill), or with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The use of JUL also makes it possible to offer non-crypto users asset pricing that does not involve crypto. JUL is not tradable and its exit liquidity is only through conversion to NGL. Thus, when a mainstream user is ready to convert to a crypto user, they can take true ownership of the value they generated in the game by switching over to NGL tokens.

JBR - a governance asset crucial for rewarding players and letting them decide the direction that the game heads in. JBR allows for a more player-driven ecosystem where the player base determines essential aspects. To prevent domination of the governance features by whales, JBR must be separate from NGL and airdropped fairly.

There is still huge untapped potential when it comes to NFTs, especially in the gaming industry. With that in mind, we decided it would be essential to develop this technology to a new level and create unique use cases.

There will be multiple ways players can generate passive income through NFTs. Transportation NFTs, like boats and planes, can be leased to other players in exchange for a fee.

NFT infrastructures, like stables, merchant shops, and airfields, can be used in various ways and mimic real-life businesses. Owners of these NFTs will need to take time to set prices and manage their business. An NPC (non-player character) employee will be stationed, selling both goods and services to other players. Any profit taken from sales is redirected to the NFT owner.

Gold has been discovered in many places around the world, but we are also exploring the idea of adding diamonds and other precious minerals.

The game’s lore allows us to go wild and in multiple directions to develop the story as we want and as the need arises.

While other blockchains have gained some ground recently, Ethereum is still the smart contract platform with most users and developers. In that sense, picking Ethereum was the obvious choice due to its network effect. We want that to be the end ledger, hosting the immutability of ownership. Meanwhile, we’ve taken measures to ensure scalability is not an issue.

We chose a layer 2 solution for our website and game transactions. Users will be able to bridge their $NGL on the mainnet to their website wallet, which is on the Polygon (MATIC) network. Once the tokens/NFTs are ported, any transactions are covered by us.

Our aim with this strategy is to efficiently target the mainstream gaming community, which, for the most part, is outside the crypto realm. We can build out a much larger player base by creating a smooth onboarding process for the average gamer.
